DCL Ministries foundation rests on the Godhead, because through this place of rest humanity can surely discover their calling, calm and individual uniqueness while exploring their inner creativity. It is only when we receive the gift of Salvation that one can discover their true selves, through the Holy Spirit, while in union with Christ. It is in this that all can rest assured that life’s hardships and trial’s will indeed produce fruit. Friends I implore you to taste and see that the Lord is indeed good and faithful. That is why we highlight each month, on our very own Writer’s Corner a ministry, author, movement or, an individual who has made an impact in their community while surrendering to the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit.
I first encountered the distinguished Arthur Smith through the gorgeous world of fashion–one of my favorite past-times. As I viewed his collection I marveled at the black tuxedo, cranberry bow-tie with matching pocket square selected for the clientele looking to make a statement–anywhere and everywhere. Each piece is so unique as Arthur Smith pairs pinned- striped suits with polka-dot ties, tweed with silk while incorporating bursts of color. It is clear that Arthur Smith knows what the modern man is looking for today as he combines versatility, finesse and style in his well thought out, detailed driven collection, encased in old Hollywood Glamour. So, whether your in the boardroom, attending the symphony, or traveling to Martha’s Vineyard you are a man that can finally sit back while standing out.
But, to my surprise it is Arthur Smith, owner of A. Smith Clothiers: Signature Collection, that has exceeded life’s and our expectation when one discovers by day that our fashion designer is also a neurologist; owner of Smith Neurological Clinic as well. DCL Ministries delights in highlighting Arthur L. Smith a man who continues to inspire all who encounter him and is a great example that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
So, please help me celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the man behind the suit, the talented, disciplined and tenacious Arthur L. Smith, M.D.
Please enjoy this inspiring note from Arthur L. Smith, M. D.
During my first year of medical school I experienced one of the greatest struggles of my entire life. Needless to say, I was very excited about the opportunity to begin my medical education. However, it turned out to be more of a challenge than I anticipated. First, I had the dubious distinction of being the first African-American medical student in the history of my medical school to be elected as class president. I was honored to say the least. This position required me to make myself available to my fellow students, the faculty, and the administration. This obligation became overwhelming resulting in the academic demands leaving me physically and mentally exhausted as a freshmen medical student– more than I’d ever imagined. In order to fulfill my multiple new obligations there were increased interpersonal pressures. I had to seek God’s counsel and guidance in order to find solutions and strategies to meet the many challenges that I was confronted with. By the wisdom and grace of God, I was able to become more adept with time management, prioritizing my activities, focusing on my studies and as a result I was able to successfully complete my medical education. This very difficult and challenging experience was a blessing in disguise in that it showed me that with the love and grace of God, all things are possible! Since that experience I have encountered many other challenges, and I have continued to ask for God’s help to work through them.We all encounter adversities in our lives that may seem insurmountable, but with faith in God, and the willingness to work hard, there’s no challenge that we can’t overcome!
