My child, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding. And if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6
I never realized how much wisdom provides us, if we would only listen and turn our ear to it. We get advice all day long and when we aren’t getting advice we are trying, desperately, to conjure it up ourselves in order to travel the best and most favorable road to success. This scripture reminds us that God gives wisdom, for all you need to do is call out for it, and she will come.
To many, hearing that wisdom should be sought after like silver and searched for in hidden treasure sounds bizarre, but what is the use in being wealthy when you don’t have the wisdom or understanding on how to handle it. If you give wisdom a chance it wants to tell you all its secrets. Wisdom wants to guide you, protect you, steer you, and form a hedge of protection around you so that you know who to trust, and whom to get involved with. Awe, the moral benefits of wisdom can last a lifetime…won’t you let it?
