“Dear Friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” 1 Peter 4:12-14
It is hard to believe the Apostle Peter even wrote this scripture, but he did. I am sure most of you , even as a Christian, still struggle with these words that appear to glaze over the trials, adversity, attacks, and oppression we endure on the walk. How can we not be surprised when painful trials come our way, but Peter ,in this text, is attempting to explain, as a follower of Jesus , and one who is insulted when God’s namesake is used to do the most unspeakable things, that upon us defending his name we will run the risk of the, ever increasing, war to be waged against us also. Peter says do not be fooled nor defeated because, the Spirit of glory and God does indeed rest on you!
It is hard to defend what we believe for every choice we make in life has some sort of consequence. Good and bad, but Peter encourages us to hold on for the fight is not ours- it is the Lord’s- and we will all understand when His glory is revealed!
I would like to encourage all who believe to come together in unity, and prayer for those that suffer, and whom are afflicted and troubled for it is now our duty ,as a church, to pray that His will be done.
In Jesus Name…Amen
