“I lift up my eyes to the hills–where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip–he who watches over you will not slumber;indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you–the Lord is your shade at your right hand;the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm–he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” ( Psalms 121)
As I write this scripture tears come to my eyes because sometimes you just wanna know that someone is watching over you, protecting you, and that maybe–just maybe– circumstances in your life are not all lost why? because, when trouble comes, all you have to do is lift up your eyes to the one who can help you. In life you are not always going to have the answers or know what to do next, but God knows all things, and sees all things, and when you need help he is the one your eyes should look to for comfort and solutions. This scripture starts off reminding us all that our help doesn’t come from a God that doesn’t have powerful capabilities, on the contrary, our help comes from the one who actually created the heavens and the earth, and so he will make sure you don’t lose your way or go so far in the wrong direction as you attempt to climb the mountain to your destiny. God will make sure that you place your foot on an immovable rock, and he will also make sure you have on the right sneakers to make the climb if indeed you choose to place your trust in him.
God is always listening to you, and he never slumbers nor sleeps, and is always watching over you unlike the disciples that fell asleep when Jesus asked them to watch over him as he prayed to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus’ soul was overwhelmed with sorrow, much like we are when life has our back against the wall, so Jesus asked for help. Do you know how to ask for help when you need it? If you choose to lift your eyes to Him that can fix it all you will not find him asleep or too busy to tend to your deep , inner needs, for he who promises is faithful as he makes new streams in the wasteland for you; just trust being uncloaked in his arms.
Praise the Lord for he watches over us all, and when the noon day sun is too harsh it is God who will be your shade, your guide, your helper, your healer, your comforter, and the watchman in the tower; all day and all night, as you come and as you go! This is good news for we serve a God who will come right where we are so that we are shielded in the storms of life; for all you have to do is look up, acknowledge him, and know that he has always been waiting for your eyes to meet his so that he can reassure you that it’s going to be alright.
