I am very excited as DCL Ministries takes another leap to co-produce a wonderful film called, A Suspicious Christmas by writer and producer Eric Paul Chapman. We are currently in pre-production and securing our team, cast and crew.
Today pre-production begins on ‘A Suspicious Christmas’, the first ever mystery movie set at Christmastime. It will film in Pittsburgh in December 2023 with Eric Chapman (Craig Quits His Day Job) and Deborah Lassiter (the book ‘Beyond the Face of the Movies’) producing.
Every tenant’s a suspect when a sassy candy shop worker badgers her washed up mystery novelist neighbor into investigating the puzzling disappearance of their overwhelmed landlord days before Christmas. It’s Only Murders in the Building meets It’s a Wonderful Life, boasts a multiracial cast and celebrates the importance of community in a much too divided world.
Why so long in pre-production? Our model is the movie ‘Vast of Night’, a modestly budgeted film which turned out beautifully because they spent two years in pre-production preparing the hell out of it.
We are going to spend the next year preparing the hell out of this film, fleshing out our production team, putting the right people in place both in front of and behind the camera, and choosing the very best locations. In particular, there are 32 speaking roles. We want the perfect actor for every part and will be casting a wide net to find them.
